There is a shirt for the person who likes the idea of space, and it has a cartoon moon on it. This one is for the person who owns the telescope. URANOGRAPHIA — the old word for the mapping of the heavens — arches across an engraved chart plate: a solid antique-gold ring of degree ticks and eight-pointed stars, an ornate compass rose turning inside it in aged parchment and oxidised copper, and a ruled footline that states, without a wink, what the whole thing is for: CHARTING THE NIGHT SKY.
It is drawn as a plate, not a graphic — the way an actual atlas would have been engraved, back when charting the sky was the work of a lifetime and someone had to sit down and cut it into copper. Nobody has to explain it to you. That is rather the point: it is a quiet word, and it sorts the room.
Printed on the Bella+Canvas 3001 unisex staple tee: soft, true to size, broken in from the first wear. Direct-to-garment printed in aged parchment, antique gold and verdigris, so the plate sits in the fabric rather than on top of it. Offered in thirteen dark shades — navy, black, heather midnight navy, team purple, forest and more — because the aged inks read richest on the color the sky actually is, and gold on a deep night ground reads like real brass rather than mustard.
It is what a hobbyist buys himself. It is also, reliably, the astronomy gift a family cannot get wrong — the equipment is unaffordable and unguessable, and this is neither.
Made to order and printed in about 3–7 business days before it ships. Wash cold, tumble dry low, and skip ironing directly on the print. Clear skies. Eventually.
