The alarm went off, the kettle went on, and somewhere between the two the laptop was opened just in time. From the outside it looks like a punctual start to a productive day. From the inside it was a sprint down the hallway in socks.
The artwork records the result, not the method. One oversized presence dot sits beside the word Active in a heavy modern sans with round open counters, and beneath it a lighter row keeps the receipts: since 9:01. Two flat spot inks, one perfect circle, no app, no avatar, no window, nothing borrowed from anyone's screen.
Soft and cozy with a hood, for the cold mornings when the home office is still warming up and so are you.
It goes to the coworker whose dot has never once come on at nine exactly, the partner who works from the spare room with a blanket over their knees, or the friend who swears the first minute is for settling in. Bought for yourself first, then for whoever always seems to be online at one past.
Present, in every sense that matters.
