Somewhere a coin slipped into the ground in 1912 and stayed there, through two world wars, every winter since, a hundred and some years of ordinary Saturdays, until one ordinary Saturday when somebody with a detector and a great deal of patience finally lifted it back into the light. The design is drawn like a reverent 1970s hobby-magazine advert in flat inks: LOST IN 1912 across the top, a single wheat-cent coin struck dead centre in halftone with rays radiating behind it, and FOUND ON SATURDAY across the bottom. No punchline and no wink, just the two dates and the coin between them, because this one was never a joke. The range keeps to light shades on purpose: the bare fabric between the marks becomes the newsprint.
This is the shirt a detectorist buys for themselves, the one that says the thing the hobby is really about, that only someone who does it would think to choose. It's also the rare right answer for the detectorist who already owns every machine they want: dads, grandads, club regulars, and above all the newly retired, because retirement is so often when a life of lost centuries actually begins.
