Coffee in one hand, and then both hands in the pile, because the tiles do not wash themselves. Every player knows the warm-up: 152 tiles, big circles, the whole table going at once. This funny mahjong mug is for the break between hands, when the arms finally get a rest.
ARM DAY runs across the mug in heavy, friendly capitals. Below it, two cartoon forearms with pushed-up sleeves and stacked bangles press into a pile of face-down tiles mid-wash, motion lines flying off the pile. The tiles show only their plain backs, and the hands are drawn simple and friendly. Flat and bold, with thick even outlines and no lettering on the tiles at all.
The design wraps both sides, so it reads whichever way you pick it up.
Fill it for the host who keeps the coffee coming, hand one to every player at the holiday gift exchange, or wrap one for the mother or grandmother who taught you to wash the tiles.
Refuel. Then shuffle.
