Somewhere in the last year the job quietly changed. You still open the pull request, you still know exactly what good looks like, but the code in the diff is not yours any more. The agentic AI engineer now spends the day reading, questioning and approving work that showed up while the kettle boiled.
This is that moment set in the only grammar the job speaks fluently: a two line diff hunk. One row struck out, one row added, a minus and a plus sitting in the gutter where they always sit, laid out exactly as a review tool would render it. There is no caption underneath and no punchline, because anyone who has opened a pull request has already finished reading it.
The design wraps both sides, so it reads whichever way you pick it up.
It lands for the builder who has been living in agent logs since spring, and it is an easy call for the partner or teammate who has heard "I just review what the agents wrote" one too many times over dinner.
Some jobs change with an announcement. This one changed in a diff.
