Description
The pottery aisle is puns on plain shirts and a cartoon frog at a wheel. This is not that. It is a 1970s studio-craft exhibition poster, drawn for a mug: a round-bellied bottle-vase thrown full-hearted, glaze breaking over the shoulder in a drip you can practically feel, wheel rings ruled across the belly. HAND THROWN across the top, STUDIO POTTERY below, and MADE BY HAND, small, because it is. It is drawn for people who can tell handmade from clip-art at a glance, which, if you throw, is most of what the hobby actually is. The design wraps both sides, so it reads whichever way it is picked up.
It is the mug she buys for herself the week she finally centres it without thinking, and the gift that lands when "she does pottery" is the one fact you have to work with.
